The
rehabilitation profession has suffered a
great loss with the passing of Elizabeth (Beth)
Schultz. She has been the Executive Director
of the Florida Independent Living Council,
Inc. for several years and has dedicated her
professional life to advocating for persons
with disabilities.
She courageously and with enthusiasm met the
obligations of her professional, ethical and
moral commitment to serve persons with
disabilities. That is what Beth was destined
to do and that is what Beth loved to do. To
do otherwise, would be to do less and as an
advocate for persons with disabilities, Beth
would never settle for less.
Beth served not for money, or fame or even
personal gain but for the goal that every
individual has the right to live
independently, enjoy self-determination,
make choices, contribute to society, pursue
meaningful careers, and enjoy full inclusion
and integration in the economic, political,
social, cultural, and educational mainstream
of American society.
"FILC has suffered a great loss with her
passing and her dedication to the cause will
be appreciated and remembered always. We
will miss her a great deal."
